Economic recession and the relationship with War

Even though various governments have infused around $10 trillion by way of bailout packages and lowered interest rates to near zero levels, the world economy has failed to emerge from the clutches of recession. In fact, the situation is turning worse. History shows that war always follows slowdown or recession. And given the somber geo-political situation across the globe, some economists and analysts feels that the world may well be headed in this direction. After the 1797's economic deflation, there was war between US and France from 1798 to 1800. The war between US and Great Britain in 1812 followed the depression in 1807-1808. The long depression of 1873-1879 paved the way for war between US and Spain and the First World War which lasted till 1918. The Second World War was followed by the Great Depression of 1929-1939. The early 1990's recession again put US on the war front against the Iraq. History shows that most of the wars have followed the economic crisis-- there are ...

Abohar, Dec.27 (ANI): Farmers in Punjab have taken to growing fruit crops like pomegranates instead of conventional crops like wheat and cotton. Mind - Balance - Way to relearn constantly

Just like the files laid one upon each other will hold weight of the upper ones and at a given point will result in the topmost of the files falling down and thus establishing a sense of balance for the remaining ones. Likewise the mind or the psyche is able to absorb the reality around and relate to only to the extent of what the evolving has happened. The greater the evolving the greater the perception. Reality is something that is debatable as its all around us and like a microscope or telescope we have to adjust the lenses of comprehension that will automatically compute and show us the resultant reality measurable at that level to which adjustments have been made. Somehow we seem to have in the last 50 years diverted our psyche to more sense gratification and there appears more of disconnect into our inner strength which may throw a chord of confusion on this subject.Like the immense addiction to mobile phones today and other gadgets drains our ability to look within. But the trut...

Post War on Mumbai - The way forward

Adversities in life breed innovations and impregnate the mind with solutions that has always been the driving factor of progress Amidst all this loss of lives and pain I see a ray of hope Instead of being a nation which is insensitive, lethargic and a complacent lot we have suddenly realized how vulnerable we have become and all our growth and development process is myopic if the basic sense of security is absent. We are angry and feeling so helpless, while our brethrens are bleeding out there.... Never have I seen such great viewer ship on TV over the incident from Nov 25th to Nov 29th 2008 .I was myself glued to the TV without able to give any mindshare to anything else and could virtually see that this time people are really very angry , unlike all previous terror strikes in Mumbai. This time people are demanding accountability. From politicians, the government and the policy makers…… The terrorists had aimed at killing 5000 people and repeating the 9/11 incident and wanted to go in...

The need of critical thinking in good education

Why Critical Thinking? Everyone thinks; it is our nature to do so. But much of our thinking, left to itself, is biased, distorted, partial, uninformed or down-right prejudiced. Yet the quality of our life and that of what we produce, make, or build depends precisely on the quality of our thought. Shoddy thinking is costly, both in money and in quality of life. Excellence in thought, however, must be systematically cultivated. A Definition Critical thinking is that mode of thinking - about any subject, content, or problem - in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them. Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and ...

Success is the sum of all failures

"Life is full of challenges , at every step in life we come across situations which are trying and tempting us into failures and victories" Does it surprise you that only 400 cokes were sold the first year of its business ; Albert Einstein's Ph.D. dissertation was rejected; Henry Ford had two bankruptcies before his famous success; or Dhirubhai Ambani was working as a gas station attendant, written off as a failure, 20 years before becoming the first entrepreneur in India to take his company to IPO ? Michelangelo couldn't get into art school on three occasions yet became a great sculptor; Abraham Lincoln lost seven elections before winning the Presidency; "Magic" Johnson failed a 1,000 times before he could show his magnificent performance;PC Socar bungled 5,000 time before performing his great magic show that enthralled the world;Sanchin Tendulkar lost 600 matches before becoming the worlds greatest batsman . Each one had their share of setbacks, disappo...
