Keeping our environment clean

INDIA a country with great diversity and rich in flora and fauna.Added to this is our rich cultural diversity that has created several tourist spots and people all over the world flock to drown in its beauty.

Often one is greeted with a familiar sight at most of these places which are of plastics bags scattered and packed food wrappers flying and floating around with Pepsi/colas tin cans carelessly discarded. At times we find liquor cans and bottles and even condoms all accumulated over a period of time .

They are so hardened over the period of time that they almost seem to merger with the vegetation.

Once it was so painful to see a hungry cow devouring grass which was covered with the non degradable wastage and gradually in its urgency to satisfy its hunger swallowed a lot of plastic material.I wondered what would become of it now...........after a few days I happen to visit the wild life sanctuary at Bannergetta at Bangalore.I was in tears to see that an innocent looking deer having consumed lots of plastic material thrown by visitors was declared dead and when the stomach was opened to know of the cause of sudden death they found loads of plastic covers n the body that had blocked the intestine .

Today if you go there you will find a photo of the same being placated every where and have prohibited the plastic material within the forest area.

Although the authorities there woke up to the fact early it may not hold good for all the areas. The lakes that regulate the temperature of Bangalore city have been systematically coked with disposals and industrial waste despite the government investing millions of Dollars on the same.

The aquatic life has been seriously affected and as a resultant action we find every now and then news headlines with grisly photo of thousands of fishes suddenly surfacing on the water "DEAD"

No matter what the authorities do unless we as individuals learn to be more civic and abstain from these habits of throwing things carelessly with no respect to our natural habitat and surroundings we shall never be able to improvise the situation. Our children will be so used to these scenario that they will go step further taking " THE COMMON DIRTY SCENE" As a way of life .

This I am sure of as I had been to a painting competition in a school recently and i saw a little girl paint a beautiful rising sun, mountains , birds ,water ,lots of greenery and then started painting patches of black and yellow.I asked her what did that represent?

She answered " they are the waste thrown around uncle. that's how it looks like near my place"
