MANTHAN 2013 a contest on INNOVATION and Bright ideas by FKCCI

The market dynamics have changed for ever and since 2008 there is a churning that is happening in the undercurrent across all the aspects of trade , industry, social life style as well as the political structure. No longer do we have the incremental innovation that enables and evolves the industry from where is was to where it can go with the contemporary times and changing demands.Instead what we see now emerging on the landscape from the last 2 years, disruption innovation seems to have overtaken the world. The industry gaping for fresh ideas and thinking that is totally out of the box for retaining the market place and survival suddenly the focus is now on the universities where the creative energy is bubbling with possibilities and potentially as a haven for the innovators who are young and uncluttered from the old world model of workings. This is where innovation is now ruling the roost and even major innovation giants like IBM is making a beeline to such campuses where there is even the slightest scope of bright ideas.

The Federation of Karnataka chamber of commerce and Industries (FKCCI) has left no stone unturned to capitalize on this emerging trend and bridge the needs of the corporate members by hosting the annual Innovation contest named " Manthan " - in sanskrit it means "the churn".Manthan 2012concluded on April 14th 2012 at le Meridian hotel Bangalore with a fantastic display of ideas and business plan.It was facilitated by the Chief Guest Sri Subroto Bagchi - the chairman of mindtree and also he union minister for corporate affairs Sri Dr M.Veerappa Moily.

The whole process is to recognize the ideas that are feasible and helping them convert it into a business plan and then prepare the contestants for a show case of the idea to potential investors and incubators who could be either from member organizations from the industry or the VCs as well as business incubators There is an annual function at the end of it all where the selected finalized can demonstrated their work to the public and a jury decided on the awards. The cash prize for the best one is given USD 2000 and then also hand holding the budding entrepreneur with the incubation facility and mentor ship from the industry experts. The support programmes also links fellow industry members with the ideas and facilitates further nurturing of the talent pool and opportunities.

The next Manthan 2013 is scheduled for concluding in the month of March 2013 any proposals or business plans can be submitted at email: President@fkcci.in As the committee member of MANTHAN 2013 and a passionate believer in grassroot level innovation I am exploring so many possibilities this coming season of Manthan, working with university level with my pet project iLABs on idea mapping and culling projects
